A Colorado notary is a public official commissioned to serve the public as a neutral witness to the signing of documents. In addition to taking acknowledgments, deeds, and contracts, notaries can administer oaths or affirmations, certify copies, and take notice of protests or other sworn statements and testimony. They may also be authorized to verify electronic records. It is recommended that notaries consider getting an errors and omissions insurance policy.
